Sunday October 17, 2015 South Carter, Middle Carter & Carter Dome

I have not updated this blog for some time, but it is not due to a lack of hiking. It is more my lack of interest in sitting in front of a computer on beautiful summer days. Since my last post, Jillian and I have stayed quite busy hiking. We had a backpacking trip to the Bonds, we hiked Owls Head in 7 hours and 55 minutes, and a epic Bonds traverse from Zealand to Lincoln Woods in 8 hours and 20 minutes, plus numerous other hikes to fill the time. Jillian has one peak left to finish her second round of the 48. We are trying to finish hiking all 48 in one calendar year, which should not be a problem if all goes well.

Anyway, with cold temps and snow on the ground, we knew we had to hit the trails. This was our first time to the Carters since December of last year and there has been some trail work. Sections of the trail have been redirected and there is a bridge over one of the water crossings. Sections of the trail were a mess with the mixture of snow and leaves covering puddles. We were glad to have brought our boots. All things considered it was a nice day out.
