December 31, 2014 Mt. Liberty & Mt. Flume. Peaks # 11-12

With another cold on tap, and two days to rest to follow, we decided on a shorter hike. We were at the trail head at 8:40 AM, and after a quick trail and road walk, we were at the start of Liberty Springs Trail.

We quickly broke off from Liberty Springs and went for Flume Slide Trail where a steep icy mess was waiting for us. There was steep ice bulge after steep ice bulge, which was not too difficult for me, but it was definitely on the outer edge of Jillian's comfort zone.

More steep hiking on Flume Slide Trail.

Topping out on the ridge.

Almost there.

Good thing the wind was blowing us into the trees.

There was a short hike to Mt. Liberty and it felt a little like déjà vu. Jillian and I were here at the end of November getting some cold weather backpacking time in to get ready for this winter.

Jillian being a goof.

One quarter of the 48 done in less than a week and she is holding up great.

 12 down 36 to go
