Sunday May 17, 2015 Mt. Klem, Rand Mtn, East Quarry Mtn, Mt. Mack.

Today was another hike in the Belknap Range. We are really enjoying the solitude these mountains provide - we saw only two people today. We parked at the parking area at the end of Wood Rd where there was room for a few cars. As we have found throughout this area, all the trails are in great shape, well blazed, and for the most part, mud free. So with hot temps and black flies, we were off. The wild flowers are starting to show up. We saw wild violets, quite a few different kinds of Trillium, and the Lady Slippers will be blooming soon, maybe next weekend.

The views around Round Pond are fantastic.

It was nice to have the whole family for this hike. I must say again we are really enjoying these hikes in the Belknaps. It is a nice reminder that mountains do not have to be big or have great views, sometimes it is just nice to be out in the woods. Sorry about the lack of pictures, as soon as we stopped moving the black flies would have their way with us so there was little time to rest.
