Sunday March 29, 2015 Mt. Moosilauke

So after a few comments and messages, Jillian and I have decided to continue this blog. We enjoy contributing to the hiking community with what is hopefuly useful information in our trip reports, and for whatever reason some people enjoy reading about the wanderings of a kid and her dad. I will have to retool some things in here and sometimes I am slow, so without further delay............

Mt. Moosilauke

Jillian and I had not hiked since February 14, so we decided that a nice hike up Glenncliff trail would be the ticket to knock off some rust. We knew we wanted to get above treeline for the bluebird day that was predicted, so we figured this trail should be a nice easy hike for us. Microspikes were the footwear of choice and with the mild temps down low we were able to start the hike wearing just our fleece.

It was nice to hike just for the sake of hiking and we never pushed hard, just a steady rate that was comfortable.

Junction with the Carriage Road

As we got up toward treeline the weather did not disappoint and there was not a cloud in the sky.

Jillian heading toward the Summit

As we got higher the winds did pick up some and Jillian decided to put her face mask on.

Finishing with a big smile
The hike ended up taking 3 hours and 45 minutes, so we were quite pleased that we went a lot faster than we thought we would. It was just a great day to be out with the kid.
